About the Author

Hi, I’m Tomoyuki Tajiri, the creator of The Planet of Wine. I write practice questions for people studying for WSET® Level 3 and the WSET Diploma, based on my own experience of preparing for these exams.

Background

  • 2019: JSA Wine Expert (Japan Sommelier Association)
  • 2021: WSET Level 3 Award in Wines, passed with Distinction
  • 2022: 3rd place, 6th JSA Blind Tasting Contest
  • 2023–present: Taster on the Japanese YouTube channel “Blind Wine Tasting”
  • 2024–present: Studying for the WSET Diploma

I also run the Japanese site wine-planetary.com, which has practice questions for the Japanese sommelier and wine expert exams.

How the questions are made

  • All questions are original. They are written to match the level and style of the exams, but they are not real exam questions and are not taken from WSET materials.
  • Drafts of questions and explanations are prepared with the help of AI tools, then checked and edited by me. Answer keys are checked against the explanations, and questions with problems are corrected or removed.
  • If you find a mistake, please let me know. I review every report and update the questions.
